SOLmate Orientation
After a restful night, I was unsure about leaving the casa to go to the Universidad. Orientation games/icebreakers really aren't my thing, and I really just wanted to finish unpacking before I did anything else. It turns out that when you accidentally wake up at 6am, you've got time to shower, get ready, finish unpacking, and also make your bed before meeting Mama Tica for breakfast at 9:00.
Our casita is actually really close to the University, and the walk there in the mornings will only be about 5-10 minutes. It's also really close to the school that we will be volunteering in, and the directors of the program told us that were placed strategically for that reason.
As much as I dislike orientation-esque activities, I really enjoyed myself today. Learning names was a goal for today, and I think that everyone did really well. We ate our packed lunch with some of the girls that we met at the San José airport yesterday, and they live near us with their Mama Ticas. I thankfully escaped with only minor sunburns today, and the breeze was definitely welcome to our outdoor meeting. I'm definitely looking forward to more of this 75-and-sunny weather!
