One Last Hurrah
Today is the start of our last full weekend here. Taking advantage of our long weekend (we don't have class on Fridays during this module), we went to a beach town, Tamarindo, on the far west of Costa Rica, in the province of Guanacaste. Mamá Tica told us that this province has the most beautiful beaches, and we have to be sure to go. It doesn't look like it should take too long, but the bus to Tamarindo took about 7 hours. We have a smaller group (7 SOLmates) of close friends, so the time doesn't really bother us much.
By the time we get to our hostel, we're definitely ready for a swim. It was already dark at this time, so I didn't feel much like finding the beach. We were lucky enough to have found a hostel with a pool! Not only that, but there were hammocks that guests could lounge in, 24-hour coffee service in the kitchen, and even air conditioning in the rooms! We had a broken window in our room, so the air didn't feel so strong, but it was definitely better than sleeping in the heat of Manuel Antonio.
We set out in search of a restaurant for dinner, and we find Sharky's, a sports bar (definitely Americanized). We sit on the outer portion of the porch of the restaurant so that we can look around a little more. Starting a few weeks ago, this group has been looking for places in Costa Rica that they can go mini golfing. We saw a sign for that as we were walking to our hostel, so they're planning on going sometime tomorrow. I'm not super interested, but I might go along for fun. This is looking like it's going to be a good last weekend.
