Mama Tica has a beautiful home that has a small apartment attached to the back of the garage. It has quickly become apparent that she is happy to offer up the space to visitors that have connections to SOL.
This week, Mama Tica let us know that there would be a study abroad advisor from Texas A&M staying with us for the next few days. She was doing some site visits around the country, and brought her boyfriend with her. Nikki and Ryan had been travelling around Costa Rica for the past three weeks and were finishing up by checking out SOL to see if it is a program that would be a good fit for them in Texas.
She also told us that there would be a former SOLmate from Peru joining us next week while she was in town for a wedding. Tany (TAH-nee) is her name, and she stayed with Mama Tica while she was a student at the university. She comes back every year to visit, and we will be lucky enough to spend some time with her while she's here.
The guests that are here are fed Mama Tica's cooking, and we all eat together at least for dinner. We spend a lot of time talking in Spanish, English, and even occasionally Spanglish. It's nice to have more people here to share in the experience with us.
