Super Bowl in Costa Rica

First of all, yes. Yes we can watch the game in Central America. There's not a huge following of American Football down here, but if you ask a worker at a sport bar, they can definitely turn the channel to Fox to watch the game. Which is also broadcast in Spanish, and without the American commercials, but that's besides the point, right? Right.

There was a group of about 15 of us, including two Tico friends that we've gone out with before. We got food, drinks, and settled in to watch the game. We were unable to listen to the National Anthem, the halftime show got to us about 3 minutes into the performance, and about halfway through the third quarter, the bar started it's scheduled karaoke intro. Our Tico friends asked that the monitor be changed back to the game, and the employee obliged, but the music was still blaring over the sounds of the game.

Was it an ideal place to watch the game? Not if you were actually interested in the commercials and the performances. But if you were there to spend time with friends and local Ticos, and catch some of the important plays, then I'd say that it was a pretty good night.
