Parque Diversiones
Before this week, I didn't know that there was an amusement park near San José. I don't know why, but I didn't even think about there being one in all of Costa Rica. Parque Diversiones (literally Fun Park) is about a 30-45 minute bus ride from the university, and this weekend there was a promotion for ladies to get in for 5 mil colones instead of the regular 7 (about $10 vs $14). Hannah and I brought our friends Andy and Tim to do a little bit of exploring.
We got on the bus, and got off at the cookie factory in San José, like Mama Tica told us. From there, I wasn't sure what she said, but I knew the bus line that went to the park. So we found the nearest bus stop and caught one. It ended up charging us a crazy amount to take the bus, and taking us in the opposite direction that we needed. So we got a taxi and split the cost to get there. Hot and a little frustrated, we got into the park pretty easily.
There were two large roller coasters and several other rides that we wanted to do. We rode the coasters at least twice each, and found this alien-themed flying saucer ride that is much easier to explain in person. We found some lunch in between rides, and stopped for some ice cream as well. We were tired from the day, and we decided to head home. We got on the correct bus this time, and made it back to the cookie factory once again. From there, we were able to catch a bus back into Heredia, and we were on our way home. After talking to Hannah about this when we got home, Andy and Tim were definitely good friends to bring on this trip because they're always easy-going and ready for an adventure almost anywhere. I'd definitely go back to the park, even more so because I know how to get us there correctly the first time.
