Skype Dates With Mom's Class

My mom does a little activity with her class when she can that involves skyping (or in this case, FaceTime) with people outside of Arcadia. Before I left for Costa Rica, she asked me if I'd be up for sharing some things with her class from abroad. I thought that I'd love to help, so I said yes. Since then, we've met up a couple of times with two different classes of English Language Learner (ELL) students.

She let me know the themes ahead of time, and so I had some answers prepared, but sometimes the students throw me off a little bit. The Kindergarteners were talking about modes of transportation, so I told them that I actually walk to school every day, and sometimes I take a big city bus or a taxi to get to different places. They guessed right when they thought that I got here on a plane.

The first graders were discussing different parts of the house, and so I showed them my bedroom, the door to my closet, and told them that the kitchen was downstairs. There was some construction being done at the time right outside of our window, so I showed them that as well, to many oooohs and aaaaahs. One of the students asked me who I play with, and so Hannah had a small cameo appearance that day as well. I love that I can have experiences with Tico students and Arcadian students alike while I'm abroad. I should find a way to work that into my resume somehow!
