¡Bienvenidos, Nelsons!
Today, Hannah and I went to the airport in San José to pick up her parents. They're staying for the rest of Semana Santa and into the week that we start our last module of class. Hannah is so excited to see them, and it's also making me more excited to spend time with my parents while they're here for just the long weekend. Since they weren't coming in until around 8:15, we didn't need to leave the house until about 7. We weren't sure how heavy traffic was going to be, and we didn't want to make them wait for us to get there.
Mama Tica drove us to the bus stop, and we got there just in time. The bus to Alajuela (also the one that can take us to the airport) was just about to leave. Traffic was actually decent for that time of night, so we got there in about 35 minutes or so. we waited for about 45 minutes, and we hadn't seen them yet. Hannah wasn't sure which airline they were flying through, but one that was listed on the arrivals board was showing that it was delayed. We went in search of WiFi so that she could check to see if they had messaged her to let us know that they were going to be later.
We got to the cafe that had WiFi just in time for Hannah to get a message from her dad asking if we were there because they were. We rushed back to the terminal exit and looked, but they weren't there. It turned out that they had already gone to the hotel by shuttle, and Hannah's mom and older sister were coming back to get us. After some long and tearful hugs, we were on our way to the hotel for the night. Luckily the Hampton where we were staying was close, and we got there in just a few minutes.
We stayed up chatting and catching up, talking about their flight and what they were planning on doing while they were in Costa Rica. They're going to the province of Puntarenas, but to a different area than where my parents and I are going. On the Monday that we start class, they'll head to Monteverde to see the cloud forest. It's their first time in the country, and it sounds like it's going to be a good one!
