Module 4!
Today we start our last module here! I don't know if I have actually felt something so bittersweet. I hate that I only have 4 weeks left in Costa Rica, but I'm ready for a short break from school. The class that I have now is Latin American Literature, and I'm super excited. Even with the mixed reviews of my SOLmates that have already taken it, this is the class that I was (and am) the most excited for. I love reading, and analysis is something I enjoy as well. I think my excitement is almost tangible.
Hannah is going to miss this class because she's coming back this afternoon, but on the first days, we usually mostly do introductions of ourselves and go through the schedule for the days of class that we have. Right off the bat we have a short group presentation on literary terms, and this one doesn't freak me out. I'm not a fan of public speaking, but I think that the amount of things we have to do in front of classes is helping me a ton. Which is also good because I don't think I can be a teacher without being comfortable in front of students.
Our professor is the only guy teacher that we've seen through the SOL program, and he is one of the most easygoing people I have ever met. That's not an easy title to win in Costa Rica, but he emanates such a calm energy that I don't understand how other students have had a hard time in his classes. He relates literary terms in English sometimes when he wants to make sure we're following the discussion, and he is really easy to make conversation with outside of the classwork as well. I know that this isn't going to be easy content, but I'm still pumped.
