Surprise Bridal Shower
There are two girls in our group that are engaged. They've both been long-distance with their fiancees for the majority of their relationships together, and all of the SOLmates can tell that they've had struggles staying here, so far away. Both of them have also gotten pretty sick while being here, and that doesn't help anyone with homesickness.
One of the SOLmates had the idea to throw them a bridal shower while we're here together, and everyone was on board. Today was the day, and so today after class, a group of SOLmates decorated another classroom that none of us had been in before while the two girls were being distracted by a few others.
When they walked in the room, we greeted them with a "Surprise!", and they were definitely shocked. They gave each other a hug when they figured out what was going on, and one of them looked so happy she almost cried. The first thing that we did was dress them up in "wedding gowns" made of toilet paper and paper towels. I had never seen that before, but they looked really good!
They sat down in chairs in front of the room, and we asked them questions about their wedding, about their fiancees, the proposals, and even how they knew that he was The One. They laughed and were happy to answer the questions, and it was so easy to tell that they loved this. They were so surprised, and even more so that their roommates were able to keep the secret for so long (this had been in the works for about a month). I'm happy that I could have been a part of something like this.
