Trouble with Tía

Early this morning, Mamá Tica went to San José this morning to take Tía (her aunt) to a doctor's appointment. Since we've been here, Tía has been coughing quite frequently, and not gently either. They decided that it was time to take her in for some more in-depth tests (she is in her 80s, after all). Since she left the house around 6 this morning, Mamá Tica left our breakfasts ready for us on the table, had lunch packed for us, and said she would be back for dinner. We sent hugs with her for Tía and hoped for the best.
Mamá Tica was indeed back for dinner, but she got it ready for us and then left again for the hospital. Tía had gone through the procedure just fine, but after they had gotten to her house, she suddenly had trouble breathing and remembering where she was. Mamá Tica had called the ambulance and went with Tía to the hospital again. They decided that it was a delayed reaction to the anestesia that the doctors had put Tía under, and she would have to stay in the hospital until she was stable enough to go home.
Luckily Mamá Tica has plenty of family that can stay with Tía while she's in the hospital, but she told us right away that she would be in San José with her a lot in the next few days. She apologized to us, but we made sure to let her know that we understand, that she has family duties as well, and we could watch after Mati while she was gone during the day. She did mention that although this is unfortunate, she was glad that it happened when we had been here for a while, and we could navigate and manage without her. I assured her that indeed we did, and we send good thoughts with her for Tía.
